Во многих городах люди, переходя улицу, каждый раз рискуют жизнью. Согласно официальным данным, начиная с 2006 г., большинством жертв при ДТП со смертельными исходами оказываются пешеходы. Для людей с плохим зрением эта ситуация еще хуже.

Проблема в том, что когда слепой сходит с тротуара, ему сложно понять, что происходит — структура перекрестков непрерывно усложняется.

Такие карты создаются с помощью ультрафиолетовой печати: краска наносится на поверхность и затем для ускорения высыхания проводится под источником ультрафиолетового излучения.

Этот процесс позволяет получить больше деталей и уменьшить количество наносимой краски, что особенно важно для создания рельефной графики, достаточно четкой и ясной для восприятия ощупью. Для изображения перекрестка с одной из возможных перспектив его перехода в каждой карте используются рельефные структуры и яркие контрастные цвета.
